Pours a pitch black color with a small foamy head. Head retention is mild. Lacing is good. Roasted chocolate and coffee aroma. Same with the taste, but there is a peppery spiciness at the end. Creamy and heavy bodied with mild to moderate carbonation. Very good beer, but I would cellar it for a year to dial down the peppery spice. Too bad it was a crowler, and I couldn't do that.
