Part of Otto's 'cork & cage series'. As per the brewery description "Otto's presents a lightly-spiced chamomile squash lager, perfect for that nighttime nap. Just Joe'kin :-) This spiced "Pumpedkin" ale packs a 'cup of joe' caffeine punch that will surely keep you jonesing for more. 33 pounds per barrel of real roasted pumpkin, caramelized brown sugar, Madagascar vanilla, pumpkin pie spice, lactose, and 3 types of coffee come together for in this unique wheat ale. Have one and let your inner AMPED jester out. Happy Halloween! Original Plato 17.8, ABV 7.8%".
Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass at the brewery.
L: Pours a clear golden. Thin off-white head with modest lacing.
S: Pumpkin pie spices and vanilla.
T/F: Interesting flavor profile... a combination of pumpkin/squash veggies and spice with a bit of a tart/sour kick. Not what I expected but not unpleasant and definitely different from anything I've had at Otto's previously. There's vanilla in the background, and a bit of spiciness which all works with the coffee in the background.. There is solid carbonation giving it a medium mouthfeel.
O: An interesting beer from Otto's. It's a pumpkin ale... but so much more and I really like the somewhat tart pumpkin/squash flavor that shines through the spices. I'd definitely have it again and Otto's hit on a winner with this cork'n'cage.
