Just below the North Star, you’ll find the Magi, who are there to help you celebrate the holiday season. This red ale is spiced with frankincense and myrrh, which present a slightly piney flavor with hints of black pepper. The addition of the Indian jaggery balances the spices with flavors of buttery caramel and brown sugar. Finally, specks of real 24K gold were added to complete our holiday gift to you. We hope you will find this to be pure magic and a wise choice. Happy Holidays!

Part of Otto's 'Cork & Cage' series. Poured from a bomber into a goblet.

L: Pours a cloudy dark copper/reddish color. Two fingers of tannish head. Spotty lacing.
S: A mishmash of spices.. hard to pick out any specifically. Not sure I really know what frankincense and myrrh even smell like.
T/F: Thin.. red ale with some malts. Over the top spicing... unpleasant and medicinal. Lacking in body... not much hop character.
O: Just... not good, and probably the worst of Otto's beers I've tried. If I hadn't shared the bomber with a few friends it would have been a drain pour. I see where they're going with the whole '3 wise men' theme... gold, frankincense, and myrrh... but somehow they needed to make a decent tasting beer... and failed.
