16oz can into a pint glass. NO freshness dating.
One of the oddest pours I've ever had. Started out a medium yellow before turning to a reddish brown. When held up to the light, the edges are Amber and the core a muddy cola brown. The small off white head persists throughout leaving some nice lacing.
There is a mild but pleasing hoppy aroma.
The wheat aspect seems to leave a certain sourness in the back of the throat. There is a faint hop bite on the tip of the tongue.
The mouth is around medium, the finish manages to be both watery and slightly sour.
Overall, not really an enjoyable drink for me. Not badly made, just the ingredients didn't sit well on this particular palate.

DATE: July 10, 2019... OCCASION: beer Wednesday! GLASSWARE: nondescript dinner goblet... canned 5/15, this one pours freshly the color of a murky iced tea, fuzzy in its edges yet frothy like a cappuccino in its off-white, browning head... good retention, full of life... a dank, earthy presence pairs with resin and pine, blueberry and raspberry, lemon and lime... apricot can also be noted... a sweet tea aroma mingles--maybe the wheat working against the strong Simcoe presence... posted at 5.9% on this site, the current ABV is 6.5%--not a noticeable weight, a balanced sip that doesn't bite as much as it follows appreciably to the throat... its exit finishes with soft cloying, a modicum of refreshment, and a breath of malty oats impart a strong impression on the experience... much maltier than expected, this exudes the red malts' toasted aspects while contributing to the berries that make it a complex profile... the lime and grapefruit burst through with a purpose, while the apricot and piney earth ground it in a somewhat muddled but enjoyable fruit basket... days after enjoying this on draft, I find the canned version a good deal like its on-tap condition--engaging, busily full of flavor, and a tad nettled in competing forces... that said, I won't pass up the next one I am offered...

Had on-tap at Otto's. Poured into a pub-club mug.
L: Medium to dark golden brown pour. 1.5 fingers of tannish head. Great lacing.
S: Sharp and hoppy... almost has a rye character and spice.
T/F: Biscuity malts... not overly sweet and has a very nice bitter hop kick. Drinks almost like a rye IPA with some spicey notes and pepper. Smooth for an IPA.. possibly the wheat addition. Finish is bitter and resinous.
O: A pretty good effort from Otto's, and glad to see them trying some new beers again. One I'd definitely have again... great session beer with lots of flavor.

Good amber color, minimal head. Aroma is pretty lacking, just a pedestrain mild northwest hop and standard malt. Taste pretty much follows the same course, run of the mill red IPA but nothing egregious.
