Had on-tap at the brewpub in State College. On-cask and poured into a goblet. Got one of the last pours before it kicked.
L: Cloudy toffee brown pour. 1 finger of foamy white head. Falls quickly with a ring of lacing.
S: Caramel, malts, and sugars.... sweetness and bourbon/booze.
T/F: A sweet malt bomb... lots of sugars going on here with brown sugar, caramel, and toffee. A bit of raisin/plum. Strong barrel character... vanilla and bourbon mingled with oak. Thick bodied... creamy and smooth. Finish is warming and a bit boozy/sweet.
O: A bit of a sweet malt-bomb mess, but complex flavor and a lot of barrel character. Could have maybe used a bit more hopping to balance it out. Glad I got to try it... 1/2 a pour would have probably been enough. A dessert/nightcap, or something for those who like sweeter beers.
