Poured on cask at Otto's brew pub. Poured into a snifter.
L: Looks like a Jolly Roger. Nearly black pour... 2-3 fingers of foamy tan head. Great lacing.
S: Roasted malts and coffee... mild cherry notes.. some tartness.
T/F: Cherry sweetness up front is a surprise.... more than expected. Pushes the stout into the background. Roast flavor, cocoa, and espresso are there but in the background. Cherry tartness as well... almost sweet/tart on the palate. Fruity for sure.... almost overwhelming but not quite. Thick and warming... smooth... modest carbonation. Finish is tart cherry and bitter roast. Oh, and boozy. Very boozy.
O: An interesting take on the Jolly Roger Imperial Stout (probably Otto's best beer). My first sip was off-putting... too sweet, but the tartness kicked in and definitely helped. This was a super limited release (available for all of 2 nights as part of their 15th anniversary celebration) and really glad I got to try it.
