Redbeard was one of the most notorious pirates of his day and is a fitting name for this sibling of our Jolly Roger. An abundance of Montmorency cherries was added to our imperial stout which was then aged for 15 months in an oak barrel. Notes of cherry, chocolate, and coffee blend well to create a very drinkable beer despite its high ABV. Try one of these and you’ll find yourself bellowing “Yarrr!!!”

Poured from a cork'n'cage bomber at the brewpub.
L: Dark, dark pour.. nearly black with a bit of crimson around the edges where light tries to get through. 1.5 fingers of tannish head... nice lacing.
S: Tart cherry, cocoa, roasted malts, and coffee. Sweet and boozy.
T/F: Roast... chocolate and espresso, charred malts, and cherry tartness (mixing with the bitter roast quite nicely). Complex sugars and cherry/fruit sweetness mid swig. Milder plum. Thick and creamy on the tongue. Boozy but drinkable.
O: An outstanding Imperial Stout... and oak aging the Jolly Roger on cherry really worked for this beer. Would be great to have it again around Christmas and a really nice 'share' or VERY slow sipper. Love the mix of sweet, tart, roast, and booze.
