DATE: January 15, 2022... OCCASION: relaxing by the fire with The Crying of Lot 49 and a Christmas gift from Jer--more Otto's, much appreciated! GLASSWARE: Wychwood pint...a slightly hazy, golden yellow body displays business-as-usual upward bubble movement... its head forms a white frost around the glass, lacing in a discernable pattern, while its craggy head settles to a smear about a quarter inch... attractive enough to continue... thick berry and grape early, with champagne, grapefruit and other tropical fruits... nothing explosive, but for 6.4%, an appreciable aroma... its body is smooth, creamy, and lasting--biting at the teeth, but rounded on the tongue and pleasant at the throat, lasting long enough to be enjoyed until the next sip... the berry and grape are equally present in the profile, with grapefruit bigger than advertised...the malts, not much of a suggestion in its aroma, is surprisingly bready, though not enough to suggest this is a balanced ale... one-offs can be a hit-or-miss, and yes, how many IPAs does the world need, but this appropriately-named series hits on this one, introducing a hop I haven't encountered singularly before... well done, Otto's...
