DATE: January 19, 2025... OCCASION: snow falling outside, temperatures to fall tomorrow--great setting for a porter tonight!... GLASSWARE: Stoudts pint... pours a thick, black body staunchly displaying two-fingers' worth of beige foam--a fitting picture of the style... chocolate, graham cracker, peat, sweet raisins, decaffeinated coffee, and some rye spiciness make its first impression a pleasant draw... its first sip is medium-bodied, solid on the tongue, and easy on the throat--encouraging the next sip with little reason not to... it has substance that avoids the watery grave lesser porters visit... lactic and chocolaty, this offers a nice variety of flavors--coffee, licorice, hard fruit, and graham cracker make this a nice accompaniment to a fireplace fire and a winter weather event... I am surprised it took Otto's twenty-plus years to craft a porter, but it was worth it... a solid to noteworthy beer here...
