DATE: February 14, 2025... OCCASION: having returned from watching A Complete Unknown (date night!), we continue with Severed and this gift from Jer--another Otto's one-off that promises a unique experience... GLASSWARE: Lindemans footed tulip... this pours with a fizzy urgency, its head flatlining quickly to a small ring atop a dark amber brown, opaque body with little bubbles clinging to the glass... puckering lime, bright citrus, apple, pear, sugary candies, and some offish esters akin to nail polish... its mouthfeel is sour, tart to the point of arresting the teeth and throat, vigorous and lively with a ton of acidity... each sip is its own sharp punch of fruit punch and sugared candies, requiring measured takes despite its rather pedestrian 6% ABV... lime, apple, pear, sweet tart confection, bitter citrus and a soft wheat backbone makes this incredibly dessert-like, especially with its saltiness and standalone intensity... big and bold, it exalts the sour style while cramming a ton of flavor in the experience...
