I frequent Otto's since it is the only brewpub in the area. The Duffinator is one of my favorite beers they have, but I'm also a sucker for doppelbock. Not the best I've ever had by any means, but still quite drinkable. Would be good after a day on the ski slopes.
It's a dark redish-brown lager with very little head, low carbonation and almost no lacing. Nice malty aroma. It starts out very sweet, hitting you with a little hops before taking you to a wonderful, smoky and nutty malt flavor and aroma. Finishes a little spicy and bitter, just enough to give it a much cleaner finish than expected. Rather thin and watery in mouthfeel, it's an easy-drinking but filling beer.

pours a clear, dark amberish brown color. No head to speak of, and no noticible lace going down. Smeels spicy, and malty, if you can picture that. Its dominate taste is sweet, with some hints of spice and hops as an afterthought. It tastes of a mix of nuts, spice and smoke, with malt and a peppery taste to back it up. Light in body, but manages to fill you up a good deal, oddly enough. Some more work, and some more experimenting with the recipe is needed, IMO. It is ok, but it is not stellar

The aroma is deep and subtle in malts, with some hops present - kind of weak. Red-brown, slightly hazy liquid with small, off-white lacing head. Low to medium carbonation (like all their beers) with a heavy, watery body - slightly viscous. The beginning is sweet with a bit of hops. A bit of smoke and chocolate. It ends, however, in a burst of bitterness with a nutty bitter after - like walnuts, and a little peppery. Palate and taste don't meld well, and the beer could be more complex but falls short.
