Served hand pulled in a pint glass

Appearance-The beer is served a copper color with some ruby red highlights shinning throughout the brew and with a tiny white head. The head fades very rapidly leaving only a very light level of lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma is a mix of lightly roasted malt and lots of caramel sweetness. Mixed with these aromas are some lighter notes of herbal and citrus hops as well as a bit of some lighter fruit (apple and pear).

Taste – The taste begins with a sweet caramel malt and a moderately roasted flavor. As the flavor advances some citrus grapefruit flavor come to the tongue. More toward the end a little bit of an apple and cherry join the caramel sweetness with more hop flavors of a pine and herbal nature coming to the tongue. The sweeter flavors never get all that strong with the more bready flavors winning out over the sweet. In the end a lightly roasted and moderately sweet and hopped but balanced flavor is left to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is rather average in terms of creaminess and thickness with a lower level of carbonation due to the hand pull. All in all the combination makes for an easy drinking brew although a standard carbonation pour may suit the lightly roasted and sweeter flavors slightly better.

Overall –It is well worth a try and rather easy drinking with a decent blend of hop and roasted malt and a bit of sweetness. An alright red, although nothing too-too exceptional.

A: coppery-caramel; about a quarter inch of light khaki head by the time it was served

S: toasty malt, caramel, citrus/grapefruit, earthy, herbal

T: right in line with smell; mild but assertive taste, nothing seems out of balance

M: creamy, good level of carbonation

O. Decent beer, glad I tried it.
