Their beer menu claimed this was cask-conditioned, but IMO if this beer was "cask conditioned" it was carbonated further with CO2. The carbonation just didn't fit the claim. Too coarse.
It poured a hazy, light orange-amber topped by a very thin, creamy head. Nose was floral, resiny, and funky from the hops. This beer is a "Prelude Pale"? A prelude to what!?! Each sip was a huge mouthful of puréed hop pellets. Hop flavor was very dominating, but what little malt that could be found was mildly fruity. Hop burps were quite plasticy and made me wish I didn't order the beer. It was way too one-sided. The brewer doesn't seem skilled enough to try an over-the-top brew like this.
