Appearance is off at a purple-charcoal-brown body with deep fuscia hues. Thin tan lace. Invisible carbonation.
Aroma is one dimensional just sweet coffee malt.
Taste is coffee and sweet blackberries. Both flavors are on the light side. There are suggestions of caramel but nothing more.
Mouthfeel: Light bodied, generally dull with a blistering carbonation bite at the end.
Drinkability: Easy to drink but too boring to be worth the time. Not enjoyed.

Pours from the tap a murky black, not unlike what I would imagine the thick blood of a slain troll would look like. A creamy tan head tops this brew.
Smell is clean with a pleasant smoked and roasted malt scent being the predominant character. Enjoyable if a little one-dimensional.
More of this in the finish of the beer but it is lead by a nice sweet caramel flavor that moves into nuttiness on the middle of the tongue. There is a pleasant roasted bitterness after the swallow that lingers while the sweetness stays in the mouth to balance thanks to the slightly creamy mouth feel.
Overall, a nice example of a porter that I really enjoyed.
