a: murky rusted brown in color with no head
s: nose of sour blackberries, cherries, and rhubarb on a malty backbone that's tough to pin down - perhaps a result of the granite scorching toasted toffee malts, bourbon presence is mild with huge amounts of malt-soaked oak
m: light carbonation and a medium body
t: sour fruit profile much like the aroma, with cherry and rhubarb carried on a full but mostly dry toffee malt body, dripping flavors of soggy oak with just a touch of bourbon, the lingering finish carries a lovely touch of sour
d: no problem at all, and a wholly enjoyable beer
snifter serving at the brewpub con sucio, intriguing story behind this traditionally brewed beer in the Madison Beer Review, in which the wort was scorched with 1500 degree granite in the parking lot of the brewery, followed by the fermentation of three different ale recipes in bourbon barrels

on-tap at the brewpub - cell phone notes
did not seem to be a style classification to fit this in...stein ale aged on oak
appearance: served in a snifter for a measley $3.50. muddy granite-mahogany body with a very thin layer of tan bubbles
smell: wonderful aroma - lovely oak bite equipped with plenty of vanilla and bourbon...a nice tartness as well
taste: exceptional. great tartness - silky smooth oak complimented wonderfully by notes of bourbon and vanilla. wish i could have had more...
mouthfeel: great tartness - smooth enough to drink significant quantities
drinkability: high
