This was poured into a becher pint glass. The appearance was a murky dark orange close to red or brown. Finger’s worth of white foamy head softly dissipated. Light stringy lace. The aroma softly melded some sweet and roasty nuts to a light piney/resinous hoppy backbone. Light toast at the end. The flavor was semi-bitter and crisp with a sturdy sweetness embracing the hops to boot. Aftertaste was disturbingly sweet running through the bitterness in a sufficient sort of way. Finish was a bit of a palate wrecker as the hop burn really clashed with the malts. The feel was roughly medium bodied with a hop burn harshness grabbing the malts to cut down in an abrasive manner. Carbonation felt fine. Overall, I’d like to say they overly hopped this but I don’t know enough about the brewery or what they were aiming for. Was this supposed to be a sort of odd blend of styles (brown ale to IPA), I’m not sure. Or maybe Arrogant Brewing was involved? Still, I don’t know.

Hayrack pours an orange-ish iced tea color with a mountainous beige-grey head. Head is 3 fingers to start and does not recede hardly at all. Big points.

Aroma is faint except for some roast malts, flame-torched nuts, and a bit of grapefruit.

The flavor comes out much smoother than anticipated, with a malty base, much like any brown ale. Nuts, barley, and some orange squirts here and there. A bit of grapefruit scrapes the tongue at the end.

The feel is creamy with a polite yet aggressive carbonation. A semi dry parch finishes the feel.

Overall, there's a local 6 pack for $5 left in a bargain bin. I'd buy it for $5, but not for $7 or 8. It's decent, nothing to rave about, but it does what it aims to do - a malty brown-infused IPA.

12oz bottle. Poured out a clear, golden-yellow color with a small, off-white head of foam. It smelled of citrus and toasted caramel. Sweet citrus and caramel with a mild bitterness.

Baraboo calls this a brown ipa. "Indian pale ale with sweet, dark Munich malts and citrusy Australian Enigma hops" Pours a dark brown, tastes like hopped up brown ale. Seems to really work though it's good.
