Pours a clear and brilliant ruby amber hue. Its off-white head is foamy with a good density. Sticky patches of lace coat the glass as the beer recedes.
Sweet and rich notes of hazelnut and tiramisu make for a bold center. There's a little bit of milk chocolate with a zip of alcohol. Its floral and grassy hop character gives this malt forward treat some edge and holds sturdy against the sweetness that surrounds it.
The dessert-like hazelnut is equally pronounced in the taste, pasting itself across all corners of the palate. The hops hold on to their great florality while taking on a layer of herbaceousness. Their flavor trumps their bitterness, planting themselves at the center of the palate and then gradually fading in the finish. A straight shooter but oh so flavorful.
The feel is both creamy and chewy but its light-medium weight makes it very quaffable. Great balance is achieved throughout with a slightly below average level of carbonation, helping all of the malt derived sweetness to pull through.
What a stunner. This is a standout for me out of all of my most recent NS offerings I've tried. It's packed with flavor and makes for a very, very drinkable beer at 6.5%. Kudos Hell Bay! I look forward to my next visit.
