Had a mug of this out of the tap at Essen Haus in Madison WI on 8/11/2023. Tasted fresh enough.
Smooth, ABV was well hidden. Semi sweet with a hint of bitterness on the finish.
Flavors are hint of grain, some caramel then spice. The spice is pumpernickel, cinnamon/raisin plus maybe a hint of black licorice/anise. The spice dominates the flavor profile.
The body and mouth feel is on the thin side.
I like it, first time I ever had this one. I will give it 3.89+/5

Nice smooth dopplebock, dark amber with soft off-white head. Aroma of citrus and caramel, taste of dried fruit and chocolate. No hint of alcohol burn. Plus, I like the name....

Pours a clear, mahogany coloration with a huge, creamy head. Smells of bready, caramel malt and dark fruit, with hints of toffee and red berries. Taste is a decent balance of grainy, bready, caramel malt, toffee. dark/red fruits with notes of fig, raisin, plum, red currant and just a hint of floral, grassy hops. Finishes bittersweet, with a light bitterness and some toffee and dark fruits lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
A nice Doppelbock that is quite heavy on the caramel malt, toffee and dark fruit, resulting in a flavor profile that is slightly too sweet and a little one-dimensional for my personal taste, but is still balanced nicely by some bitter hops, preventing this from becoming quite too syrupy sweet.

Like the Camba Weizenbock, this 0.33l bottle was also purchased at Liebick and later consumed in Rothenburg on 25SEP15.
Was a really deep chestnut/mahogany color and a touch hazy. Head was tan, thinned rapidly, and left decent lacework. Smelled of subtly sweet malty caramel and brown bread. Body was medium, and light prickle made it easy on the tongue.
Flavor checked in with caramel, a smidge of molasses and some toffee. Good malty sweetness all around. Displayed a bit of pleasing floral hopping at the finish. Though not a world-beater, it was a solid all-around bier. Prosit!
