Pours a cloudy, golden amber coloration with a small, fluffy head. Smells of doughy, biscuity malt and berry hops, with notes of white grape and gooseberry, as well as some grassy accents. Taste follows the nose, with a good balance of doughy, biscuity malt and fruity, grassy hops, with distinct berry notes of white grape and gooseberry, with just a hint of white pepper coming through as well. Finishes rather dry with a very light bitterness and some white grape and gooseberry lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
While this doesn't feel quite as authentic as their Grätzer from the same series, being a bit too hoppy and high in alcohol volume, it's still quite a pleasant and refreshing brew that shows off the Nelson Sauvin hops used very nicely with those typical white grape and gooseberry notes, which are slightly acicic in character as well and fit the dry finish well. Perhaps there's a hint of estery apple accents in there as well. Overall this makes for an interesting new school interpretation quite an old school style that has got just a hint of a vinous quality to it with that dry and slightly acidic character and berry notes.
