Pours a cloudy, deep amber coloration, with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of doughy, slightly caramelly malt and herbal, woody hops. Taste follows the nose, with a good balance of doughy, slightly caramelly malt and herbal, woody, slightly floral and spicy hops, with notes of red berries, mint and just a hint of potpourri and cedar wood. Finishes with a light/medium bitterness and some red berries and mint lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
This makes for a nice English Pale Ale that doesn't quite live up to some of the better domestic example of the style, but still is enjoyable enough, with a good balance of malt and hops, as well as some herbal, woody, floral and slightly spicy and fruity notes. I would certainly have this again if I couldn't find any proper UK brews instead.
