Pours a cloudy, deep carmine red coloration with a large, frothy head. Smells of bready, caramel malt and berry hops, with notes of elderberry, as well as hints of toffee also coming through. Taste is a good balance of bready, caramel malt and fruity, floral and slightly herbal and resinous hops, with berry notes of elderberry and cranberry, as well as hints of toffee and pine also coming through. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some red berries and hints of toffee and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
Quite a tasty Rotbier with a good balance of malt and hops as well as strong notes of red berries, which give a slightly tart flavor profile to this, although finishing with a good bitterness as well. Those subtle floral, herbal and resinous notes lend a bit more character to this and are well-balanced as well, making for nice example of the style that is rather enjoyable, despite feeling a bit light-bodied.
