Pours a clear, deep, dark ruby red coloration with a medium, fluffy, lasting head. Smells of grainy, toasted, caramel malt and herbal. slightly resinous hops. Taste is a great balance of grainy, toasted, caramel malt and herbal, slightly fuity and resinous hops, with notes of red berries and pine. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some caramel malt and herbal, slightly resinous hops lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
This makes for a pretty enjoyable Irish Red Ale that strikes a great balance of malts and hops, as well as sweet and bitter, resinous notes. There's a pretty solid, sweet and toasted malt backbone to this that is complemented very nicely by the bitter and herbal hops, while I really enjoyed those subtle red berry and resinous pine notes here.
