Cerveses Almogàver "Volksbier"
€6,45 / pint on tap @ Craft Barcelona, 26 November 2022
Notes: It's mostly clear, and golden in color beneath a finger's width of white foam. The aroma is limited but it suggests Pilsner with some grainy malt and a smear of lightly spicy and floral hops. The taste is very similar. It has a Pilsner character for sure with grassy malt and herbal, spicy and floral hops but overall it's on the lighter side of things. I question why that would be? Why not just make a solid Pilsner? The first thing that springs to mind is that it's more accessible to the palate, and perhaps a bit more refreshing under the hot Spanish sun. I get it. In the mouth it's medium bodied on the lower end, and crisp with a fine-bubbled carbonation that allows the head to hold up well. In the end I find it a little bitter for what it is, but maybe that's just me. I'm enjoying it but I'm not inspired to have another.

Cerveza dorada con un dedo de espuma de buena duración. Cuerpo y carbonatación media. Aroma a malta y parte cítrica. En boca resulta amarga con un retrogusto seco.
