Sampled this beer on-tap at the Tavern on Liberty in Allentown.
Appearance is a cloudy muddy brown with golden edges. There was, at best, a half finger of head that dissipated fairly quickly. There were mild pumpkin notes in the nose. The same mild pumpkin taste was present in the flavor profile along with a light maltiness. There is also a tart sourness that likely comes from the pumpkins. The whole thing finished up with a dry bitter finish.
This offering has a pretty healthy body to it and made for an enjoyable seasonal. Pumpkin beers are definitely my favorite seasonal style; this is a solid version that is just shy of magical.
Update: Had an aged glass of 2013 at the Strange Brew Tavern in Allentown (late February 2015). Surprisingly, the spices had held up well over time. The tart sourness was gone; by contrast, I notice a distinct smoothness. The dry finish remained and was a welcome closing for this fine offering.
Unfortunately, Hijinx does not bottle, so aging at home is not yet possible.
