A thanks to the champion of coffee beers, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a black color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of strong black coffee. Taste is black coffee, just a hint of cream, some bitterness. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.

I am currently CANducting a brewery horizontal with HiJinx BC out of Allentown, here in PA. I had meant to do this for a while & got re-inspired during a recent visit to Dominion Pizza with Jeff Lebo, the CAN Man. I may be the founder of The CANQuest (tm), but Jeff is a CANlector who takes my empties for his CANlection.
From the CAN: "Brewed with a generous amount of coffee. The coffee is custom roasted at Taylor Roasted Coffee House in Northampton, PA."; "Tomfoolery in every sip!"
As long as there are no shenanigans involved, I am good. I had a now-hated supervisor who referred to my work as "shenanigans". I am glad to be shut of her & her ilk.
I Crack!ed open the CAN & without a moment's hesitation, began a slow, gentle Glug into the awaiting glass. The hour is growing late & I do not feel like cleaning up a mess. A vigorous in-glass swirl raised just over a finger of dense, foamy, deep-tan/light-brown head with decent retention, leaving behind nice lacing as it fell. Color was Black/Opaque (SRM = 44), allowing only deep brown highlights at the edges. Nose was redolent with freshly roasted coffee. Mmm. That may not be for everybody, but I am a retired US Navy sailor who begins every day with a cuppa Joe. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but on the approach. This was definitely coffee-driven! Man, from the very first sip, I felt like I was drinking cold, black, bitter coffee. This is one way to jump-start your evening, I would be curious to try their base Porter just to see how much of a difference the coffee actually makes. I would bet quite a bit, given the unrelenting coffee flavor in this one. Phew! Finish was bitter and dry, but not from hops. Instead, it was very evocative of morning coffee.

Poured from a 12oz can into pint glass in January 2017. I did not see any brewed on or drink by dates on the can, but I drank it less than a month after purchase.
Appearance: Deep black with thick dark tan head about 2 fingers high. Beer is thick and not hazy. Head leaves only a little lacing on the glass.
Smell: Aroma dominated by coffee, I could smell the coffee aroma while I was poring the beer into the glass. There is also some smokey aroma, but not much hops.
Taste: The taste is also dominated by the coffee flavor. There is a little bitterness from the hops and some chocolate flavor. There is also some sweetness and creaminess. There is a moderate alcohol bite as well. The aftertaste lasts a moderate amount of time.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium alcohol level, which confirms the 5.0% on the can. This beer is also very smooth and creamy.
This is a very smooth and creamy porter. It is dominated by the coffee flavors and aroma. Interesting version of a stout.

12 oz can - batch # on the bottom of the can, but no date
Very dark brown in color, almost black - tan head that fades. Nice coffee aroma like with sugar and cream. Taste is mildly acidic. Roasty aftertaste. Medium bodied.

Poured deep mahogany with a foamy tan head. Toasty chocolate and coffee in the aroma and the malt base does not go much deeper. Flavors are in balance but not a lot of depth again. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not that satisfying honestly.
