I wanted something special for my 2000th rating and this fits the bill.
This version is a batch of SYF distilled into whiskey and aged in barrels. Then another batch of SYF is brewed and aged in the SYF whiskey barrels. The best news is that it tastes as good as it sounds!
Pours a dark brown to black color with a finger of beige head. The nose has the whiskey notes in the front. There is both sweet and roasted notes in the flavor profile but the sweetness wins the battle between the two. Whiskey flavor, molasses and dark fruits are all present. There is a touch of alcohol heat on the finish but it is not intrusive in any way. The mouthfeel is thick and sticky.
