Picked up a 4 pack - reasonably priced.

Pours a nice black with solid brown head.

Smell is fine, nothing stands out.

Taste - excellent. Really love this. It is certainly not the best beer I have had, but what a great RIS. Smooth, great balance of sweet/bitter not too much of either.

Drinks easily and beautifully.

Great beer to have.

** Had it on tap. In stores it comes in a can; i tend to prefer the taste of beer in bottles vs cans, so not sure if i would enjoy this beer as much if i didn't have it on tap.

While not a standout for this style, was still very enjoyable in tap.
Medium-heavy bodied, low carbonation with roasty-bitter characteristics.

12oz can from brewery: This one pours an inky, opaque dark brown color. There was a small darker tan head in it. Hints of chocolate, coffee and roastiness to the somewhat lighter nose. The taste is good. Chocolate, espresso, roasted malts, and just a touch of bitterness. Nice!

A- Big frothy light mocha ahead on a dark brown/light black body. Above average head retention, lacing.

S- Whiffs of roast, cocoa powder,

T- Roastiness, slight anise note. Sweet chocolate hint on the tail end of each sip. Drinks around 8 to 9%abv...boozier as it warms

M- Full mouthfeel. Small carb bubbles.

D/O- Enjoyable if not a standout. Non-bastardized RIS are hard to come by anymore but this was a good one. Thanks @jhavs !
