“Dank” is a popular but hard-to-define adjective used to describe hops but we’ve done our best to define it in pFriem Dank IPA. This light copper ale shines with flavors of tropical fruit, hints of blueberry and a fresh hoppy finish. You might not be able to describe the dankness to your friends but you’ll understand it after one sip.

Very good IPA, a lot of juicy hops in a beer that is slightly heavy. Really good blend of hops, not overly bitter and very drinkable. I would consider this a Winter IPA. Pours a medium head that is off white and slightly cloudy. 70 IBUs Rated 12-22-2018

Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. I don't see a date on the can.
Appearance: medium golden hue with a light haze and a thick finger of frothy ivory foam atop.
Smell: sweet malt with a fair dose of grapefruit peel, a bit of pine, and a definite earthiness. Reminds me of an old-school DIPA; not bad at all.
Taste: malt is rich and sweet, and the hop flavors are a bit earthier and, indeed, danker than the aroma. There's a reasonably high bitterness here, which is necessary to balance the sweetness. To me, this is like one of those classic maltier DIPAs from years past.
Mouthfeel: medium-rich body with a decent carbonation and a pretty good creaminess.
Overall: this type of beer isn't normally my thing, but I'm enjoying this one. It does a good job balancing big flavors - bitter, earthy, rind-ey hops with a sort of heavier, stickier malt base.

From a 16oz can. I can not see a date on the can.
This is a clear golden pouring beer. I was not expecting the clarity, but pleased by it. There's a mice steady stream of tiny carbonation bubbles rising in the glass to produce a 2 finger white head. The head is a frothy and creamy looking white. Great head retention, and sticky, clingy lacing on the glass.
Aroma is lighter than expected. I get some dank earthy notes and notes of pine.
Taste - There's a dankness to this beer and it's more of an earthy dankness than a "herbal" dank. Very earthy and pine flavored. Good hit of bitterness on the backside.
This beer is smooth and a bit sticky feeling. Great fullness.
This is damn delicious! Pleasure to try.

Tasted on tap at Aces & Ales - Tenaya, in Las Vegas, NV
Beautiful, crystal clear, light straw beer with pure white head; could mistake it for a classic pilsner in the glass. Nice hop aromas, but disappointingly delicate and restrained, given the name. Flavors of lemongrass and light orange zest, again delicate and restrained. Thin to medium body with snappy carbonation and a crisp finish. Overall this is a delicious, subtle beer; in a blind test I’d guess it was an IPL. Where is the dankess the name promised me?

Look: Medium to dark orange in color and opaque in the glass while a nice white head builds up and settles to a film, leaving good lacing behind
Aroma: Tangerine, melon, diesel, boysenberries, Cannabis, lemons, strawberries, blueberries, and sweet bready malt
Taste: Hits quick and fast with terpene-laden Cannabis notes that encompass fruity all the way to diesel-heavy weed and is followed up by pithy citrus notes. Mixed berries galore along with a little melon shine in the middle before dankness returns for the close
Mouthfeel: Full, lightly slick, medium-high carbonation, and a lightly dry finish
Overall: This is some tasty stuff. I love pFriem and dank IPAs so a no-brainer to buy a 4pk and glad that I did because a single would have just been a tease. A delicious and well-made one with plenty of dankness present throughout but not so much that you forget you’re drinking a beer. Recommended

Pours clear, with lots of dank hop notes. Faint blueberry notes on the nose. The sip follows, with more piney pithy than berry flavor. Moderate bitterness, lingering finish. I’m a fan.

This one pours a mostly clear golden yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells mostly like marijuana, with some blueberry skin, orange peel, grassiness, and pine.
This finishes a little thinly on the back end, but up front it's pretty nice stuff. It's very floral and, well, dank - with marijuana spice and grassiness. It's not too malty, and it's very crisp. There's maybe a touch of blueberry (obvious Mosaic influence here), and some grapefruit peel. This is alright, but the regular pFriem IPA is much, much better.
This is light bodied, and very clean and crisp, but falls off on the back end.
This isn't too bad, but there are a lot of better pFriem beers for sure.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/24/2019. Pours fairly crystal clear medium golden yellow color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, white grape, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light honey/nutty, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, white grape, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light honey/nutty, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, white grape, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no minimal hop astringency after the finish. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and sticky/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 7.8%. Overall this is an awesome IPA. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink despite the moderately bitter/resinous/drying finish; not overly aggressive. Awesome Chinook, Mosaic, Citra, Warrior, Nelson Sauvin, Columbus profile. Extremely vibrant, dank, earthy, and fairly juicy hops; with a great clean bready malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp resin dryness. A really enjoyable offering, and outstanding style example. They nailed what they were going for on the dank qualities.

Revisited October 05th, 2024
Golden amber body with great clarity; fair carbonation; thick head, white, loosely frothy; sticky, spidery fingers of foam stick to the glass. Wonder smell; fresh pine and floral notes; touch of peppery spiciness and citrus. Outstanding taste; delicate malt sweetness with suggestions of tropical fruit and pine resin; muted berry; medium-light hop bitterness; very mild biscuit. Crisp body; medium body; soft dryness throughout.
I loved this beer back in 2018 and nothing detracts from that impression today. The can date was a bit muddled, but it does appear to have been canned around mid-September. There is no denying the great balance and complex flavoring of this beer. A superb dank India pale ale.

Clear, golden hued body; very thick, sticky, white head; sheets and ribbons of foam adhering to the glass. Resinous and dried berry aroma; a bit of orange juice. Biscuit, strawberry, and pine resin flavors; strong, complementary hop bitterness; some mango and kiwi elements. Medium-heavy body; crisp with a mild sting to the palate; fairly dry feel overall.
Called a dank IPA and I would concur. Over an month and a half old yet still lively and delicious.

Bottle 9/26:
Has a nice golden body, maybe slightly amber. Head is quite nice, sustaining a half cm cap the whole glass.
Nose has a little lightly toasted malt combined with an herbal to earthy to citrus rind hop notes.
A moderately dry beer actually seems to really rely on that toasted malt backbone in a good way. It provides support for the hops that bring grapefruit rind and dried pine twigs lying on the forest floor.
The “dank” parts aren’t too strong, but might’ve faded a tad in 2 months. A nice, medium light and nicely carbonated brew fits in with the less palate-wrecking NW IPAs of old.

Are these people even capable of brewing anything less than stellar? A dense soap-suds heAd tops a golden pour. Nose is fruits and pine, with the moist dankness of very old rock walled root cellar. Taste is fruity, with just the right hop punch. ABV is on the high side for an IPA, so there's a bit of hotness, which is just a nit. Overall, fine IPA.
