Juicy IPAs may have started in New England, but we like to put our own west coast spin on things. pFriem’s Juicy IPA features big, fruity aromas of peach and starfruit, and jammy notes of orange sherbet, papaya and white grape. We think you’ll agree that we’ve put all this juice to good use.

ABV 7.2 IBU 35

FLAVOR PROFILE: Orange Sherbet, Peach, Tutti Frutti

INGREDIENTS

Malt: Rahr Pale Malt, Simpsons Crystal Light, Thomas Fawcett Malted Oats
Hops: Chinook, Mosaic, El Dorado, Or. Amarillo, Vic Secret, Citra
Yeast: London

TASTING NOTES

Hazy raw honey body topped with fluffy off-white foam. Enormous fruity aromas of peach, Tropicana, starfruit, and Juicy Fruit. Big jammy flavors of orange sherbet, creamy papaya, tropical punch, and white grape. Finishes round and juicy with a Tutti Frutti blast.

Taster at Loyal Legion. Darker golden pour smallish white head. Aroma is light citrus and pine. Taste amps up the citrus, very smooth. Slick and tasty.

Impressive 'juicy' IPA from Pfriem here, I was sure these guys were better with barrels and sours and Belgians but they can make an IPA for sure. Tons of juicy fruit, tropical sweetness, big hoppy character without being too yeasty or bitter at all. Good stuff.

Pours an opaque light yellow color. Thick sudsy white head collapses pretty quickly leaving just a thin half moon of bubbly foam on top of the beer. Lovely white lacing is left on the glass as the beer is consumed.

Aroma is mild with notes of peach sherbet, peach, and mango. Its mildly sweet on the nose with a cracker malt backbone.

Taste follows the nose with mild notes of peach, mango, clementine and a hint of lemon. Solid cracker malt backbone is noted throughout. Some light bitterness is noted towards the back lingering through the finish.

Feel is light, pretty crisp, with a somewhat drier finish. Vibrant carbonation.

Overall a nice IPA. It certainly is a tad sweeter than a west coast IPA and hazy, but it really does a nice job of incorporating some of those characteristics without straying too far from the West Coast style.

Soft, pale yellow body, marginally cloudy; thick, sculpted white head. Light citrus aroma, orange primarily but some lemon; pineapple; very fragrant. Excellent soft and subdued flavors; lemon bread; light powdered sugar; fine off-setting hop bitterness, quiet but balanced. Medium-light body; crisp and dry overall; gentle acidic nature.

A beer like this defines what subtlety and balance can do for overall appreciation of the drink. This beer brings tons of character and complexity to the palate but in a quiet and low-key manner. This is no ham fisted offering, bludgeoning you with overpowering flavor and feel. This beer is meant to be savored for its nuance and ultimately satisfying elements.

16.9oz bottled on 10-1-19, opened on 11-14-19.
2 finger white head with excellent retention sits on a pale golden/yellow IPA not clear but not at all opaque. Thick, foamy lace.
Aromas of pineapple, coconut, orange, white grape, faint peach. A complex nose on this one, very nice.
Tasty tropical fruits along with a hint of coconut and a woodsy touch. Creamy malt base that effortlessly carries this unique hop combo.
Medium body, soft mouthfeel, medium length finish with just a hint of bitterness.
Very good, really enjoyable mix of hop aromas an flavors...very unique. Drinkability is HIGH even at 7.2% abv.

Fairly nice IPA from a brewery that I just started exploring. Bottled date 10/1/19. Pours a very slightly hazy darker yellow-orange color with a little fluffy white head and some small patchy areas of lingering lacing. Smells of bitter grapefruit rind, melon, mango, pineapple and lemon hops. Also some malt, vanilla and bread. Taste follows the nose, great bitter hoppy bite with some more subtle sweet malt backbone in the distance. Smooth, slightly sticky mouthfeel with good carbonation. Quite a refreshing enjoyable IPA.

Just a hint of haze in the yellow brew, with plenty of white foam in the Copper Kettle goblet. Rather tangy, sharp even. Light and sudsy body is pleasing. Aromatic with lime and some grapefruit in the nose. Finally a little papaya in the flavor, but unripe pineapple finishes. A touch of plum skin in the aftertaste plus a distinct bitterness.

This is another example of how well pFriem does things. Restrained use of hops so you get all the fragrance, careful about over bittering, and simply letting a beer be elegant rather than rowdy. And his one is actually plenty intense but still drinkable. From the 500 ml bottle purchased at Mount Vernon Co-op.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a lightly hazy, medium golden amber with a fine two finger white head with great retention and thick lacing. Aroma of lightly biscuit malt, tropical fruit and dank hops, guava, papaya, orange, a hint of green onion, kiwi and slight pineapple. Flavor is pale malt, citrus and tropical fruit hops, pineapple, papaya, orange, grapefruit, hints of lemon and light stone fruit. Finishes with estery fruit and lightly resinous citrus hops with some light piney notes. Medium bodied with light creaminess and good carbonation. A great take on the NE style IPA. Neither as hazy nor intensely fruity as a lot of this style, but the fruit component is complex and develops nicely through the taste, developing light, but dense fruit ester notes into the finish. The hops are deceptive, seeming light to moderate at first, but more fully bitter in the finish, which lingers with citrus rind flavors. This is another of this style that is complex enough and finishes so nicely that I could be won over to the NE side. A great brewery from which I try to never miss a new offering.
