Poured from a 12 ounce can dated 10-2-25 into an IPA glass at 50 degrees F.
Appearance- Pale gold, very hazy, white creamy head, plentiful large visible particulate, above average head retention, slightly above average lacing.
Aroma- Papaya, mango, clementine, medium strength of scent.
Flavor- Pithy, clementine, papaya, weak strength of flavor.
Mouthfeel- Between medium and full body, slightly below average carbonation, moderately creamy, moderately bitter, soft, mildly mouth warming, mildly mouth coating, mildly astringent.
Overall- Pale gold and very hazy with enough large visible particulate that this beer is reminiscent of a snow globe. The bouquet was a nice mix of papaya, mango and clementine with medium strength. The flavor was pithy with notes of clementine and papaya, but was weak in strength. The body was between medium and full with moderately creamy and soft character. There was some mild astringency detectable that detracted from the experience. Overall, this beer was solid in all respects except for flavor. The flavor was pleasant, but had weak strength. It’s possible that the age of this beer could have contributed to that, but it was just purchased for me as a gift and if it’s currently on a shelf it’s up for evaluation.

Pours a very hazy golden color with a creamy white head that provides big splotches of lacing. Beautiful hazy.
The nose features loads of ripe tangerine and mango, and there’s also grapefruit, papaya, and strawberry notes, and that’s exactly where the taste lands. Delicious stuff.
The mouthfeel is full and on the softer side. I could drink this by the gallon.

Look: Turbid and bright orange-yellow with a silky white head that builds and settles to a lid, leaving good lacing behind
Aroma: I could smell it on the pour. Tangerine, mango, pine, blackcap raspberries, honeydew melon, kiwi, pink grapefruit, blueberries, grapes, and sweet bready malt
Taste: Opens up with a luscious hit of tangerine and grapes that is quickly followed by melon and kiwi and those all start developing depth. Mango, grapefruit, and berries come next along with some pine that pops in and out throughout and closes with sweet citrus and grapes
Mouthfeel: Full, soft, clean, medium-high carbonation, and soft and smooth on the finish
Overall: This is some good stuff. Leave it to these folks to have me “oohing and aahing” over a hazy IPA as given several parts of the style that I don’t enjoy, I don’t regularly drink them, if at all, but this one is really good. A tasty combo of citrus, tropical fruit, grapes, and berries that come together nicely and not too heavy of a feel either. Recommended and thanks Dad!

pFriem is another one of those breweries that make really good beer. Have been to the brewery and sampled many and this is another good one. Good citrus hop flavor with a slight bitter finish. 35 IBUs Rated 8-12-2019

12oz can from Albertsons. Hazy yellow pour, small but lasting creamy white head, rings of chunky lacing. Aroma is light citrus, lemon, grapefruit . Taste is light lemon curd, grapefruit peel, very smooth and quite refreshing. Very faint zesty notes linger.

Its been fun to see these guys enter our Boise-area market. This one surprised me, as I assumed their Belgian and barrel programs were the areas where Pfriem thrived, but this is a classic and approachable take on a style that everyone is currently mastering; hazy, juicy, citrusy, tropical, lighter bodied for 8% abv, very enjoyable overall.

really super good, never seen these orange cans before until now. didnt realize this was so strong when i was drinking it either, never checked the abv, but man, this drinks light, tropical and easy. one of the more interesting hop profiles i can recall in any recent hazy ipa, i love this, the freshness is on point, and its just way better than what pretty much anyone locally here in idaho is doing, really glad to have these guys available here now. only lightly hazy, orangish yellow tinted brew, no real sediment or density to it, looks well refined and very lively under an inch of white head. the nose and taste both pop, orange candy, citrusy sativa, fresh sliced pineapple, mango, and cantaloupe, sweet orange peel, and light green bite, just enough bitterness too, its not just juice, but it is incredibly fruit forward. the freshness is on point, the hops are bold but also really unique, and i dont get any trace of this alcohol strength, super clean ferment too. major citrus candy vibes to this, key lime, peach, and apricot too, amazing hops, id love to know what varietals are doing this, for a second it seems like el dorado and mosaic, but its more complex than that, maybe some cryo hops, something southern hemisphere, galaxy? i just cant tell, but i adore this beer. lighter airy body, not too hazy and starchy like so many, and the carbonation makes it sing. dry on the swallow just some lingering hop bitterness. really exceptional overall, among the best there are for my money...
edit: this hits every time, just as good, fresh, and distinctive when i had it again recently, and i still think this is about as good as you can do for an everyday hazy in the northwest, a gold standard level beer here on all fronts, so effortless and clean for the style, distinctive enough to be interesting, and pillowy, gorgeous.

Hazy IPA
Pfriem Brewing
Date: 11/03/21
My first adventures with this brewery. The temperature is40 degrees and served in a pint glass. A frothy white two-fingered head was created. The slow dissipation left gobs of lacing on the glass. The color charts around SRM 6, pale gold with straw yellow hues. Haziness persists throughout the beer. The appearance is typical for this style.
The first aromas I smell are mango, pineapple, floral esters, crackers, mandarin oranges, and bread. Nosing the glass several more times, I detect resin, bay leaves, grass, and a touch of dank.
The flavors are mango, peaches, pineapple, toasted crackers, mandarin oranges, bread, dank, grass, resin, and grapefruit.
The mouthfeel is dry and a touch tannic. The body is medium, has medium carbonation, and a quick finish.
A standard IPA is well done. Nothing in the beer stands out. I have consumed a six-pack; this would be a lineup for me in the summer if I could get it.
