Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a light to medium straw tinged golden amber with a fine, two finger white head with great retention and thick lacing. Aroma of lightly grainy malt, saison yeast, lightly floral and with light yeast funk. Flavor follows with nice mixed grain malt, saison yeast, light funk and floral notes. Lingering mixed malt in the finish, with a little grain husk and lemon. Nice medium bodied with moderate creaminess. A really nicely made, traditional grain malt saison. The grain flavor mix here is very good; I'm tasting oats, but not sure if that's a malt ingredient. The brett level is somewhat light, considering the name, but is exactly to my taste. Nice finish.

Brett Saison is beautiful. A slightly clouded deep yellow color bursts to golden straw when kissed by sunlight. Tiny bubbles obediently stream from bottom to top in single file lines in an effort to support the thin and foamy bone white head above. They proudly leave thin rings of lace.

Tart green apples and lemons collide with sweet honeysuckle. But they come second to the Brett inspired funkiness of wet hay, grass, and sweat. Deep underneath lies an inviting and potentially thirst quenching sense of honeydew melon.

The Brett funk comes in first, followed sweet and freshly cracked wheat. A hint of white pepper and floral spices come behind with the faintest noting of black licorice. The fruits of melon and lemon finish the experience with notes of honey.

For a Saison, this feels the slightest bit heavy. The lighter carbonation and silky smooth texture restrain this from popping with effervescence. Despite this, Brett Saison is still wonderfully drinkable and superbly balanced. Spicy, sweet, bitter, savory, delicious.

Another winner from pFriem. I believe this is, but would be even more so, world class with a touch more carbonation. For a Saison, Brett, or any combination of the two fans out there, this is a must try. Cheers.
