this is a cool beer, but somewhat sweet and nondescript as they go. is the series experimental or exploratory? i have seen it listed both ways. this one is not that hazy at all, well heady, and full of oily and resinous texture, its just that the flavor seems muted to me, uninteresting and really not even all that hoppy, for what it is anyway. i do appreciate the opportunity to drink something that at least i myself perceive as rare beer, but this didnt do a whole lot for me. its got more grain than expected, pale still, but sort of honey forward and sugary in perception, all frothy and right looking, but balanced in a strange and heavy kind of way. i think overall its not a bad beer, in fact its nice, but i have come to expect the world from these guys, and i think rightly so, so some rare test ipa kind of needs to be all time, and this one just isnt. maybe its getting tired or something, it was draft and i have no clue about date, but this didnt tug me in the way i wanted it to, and the lemon zest farmhouse i had from them in the same (long) session slayed this. the hoppy stuff has never been what makes these guys awesome, and that continues with this one even with the perceived rarity...
