Bottle from New Seasons.
Jet black with a dark brown head with good retention and minimal lacing, this looks good. The nose is intoxicating and decadent. Dark chocolate, caramel, truffles, nougat, vanilla, a touch of cinnamon, chocolate ganache - there's a lot of decadent notes here. Dark honey, a nutty, oaky aroma reminiscent of hazelnuts. A moderate vanillin note is present as well. The palate opens rich and chocolatey with chocolate ganache, cocoa dusted truffles, dark caramel and vanilla. A restrained oak character, not unlike a soft French oak, is present, lending a touch of bitter tannins to go with the sweeter base flavors. For all the richness, the palate is relatively light, and the carbonation is surprisingly high, lending a mild acidity to the mouthfeel. Fruity dark chocolate with dried blueberries linger on into the finish along with some vanilla. Quite excellent.
