Here’s a beer that’s as crisp as it is quenching. pFriem Sparkling IPA is inspired by the Australian refreshers we tasted on a trip Down Under. With aromas of sugar-covered strawberries, pineapple, and mango and notes of kiwi, white grape, honeydew, and guava, this refreshing IPA is full of a new kind of delight.

This beer pours a nice golden clear color with a 1 finger head with a lot of CO2 for the sparkling effect. Aroma is melon and bready malt with a hint of citrus. It has a nice hop taste, light and refreshing. Another good beer from pFriem. 33IBUs Rated 1-24-2023

Draft at the Handlebar. Crystal clear golden, thin silky white head. Lovely citrusy, fruity aroma, notes of evergreen. Taste leans towards a light piney flavor, elements of citrus fruit. Very delicate, light on the palate, but so full of flavor!

Can from New Seasons.
A clear light orange with a dense white head with good retention and lacing. The nose is sharp and fruity, melon, mint, honey with hardly any malt. The palate opens with a blend of bitterness and fruity hop flavor. There's a very dry, pungent bitterness that's rather unbalanced. The hop flavors are great, fruity, bright and clean, but the high carbonation lends an acidity that clashes with the bitterness. Light in body, highly carbonated and bone dry. Solid.

its so sick having these guys in the boise market now, and i am loving the rate and range of stuff coming in, lots to drink through, and this is up there for me with their best hoppy ones in recent memory, such a bright and summery complexion and mouthfeel to this, so light and easy drinking, amazingly fresh on tap where i had it, and with a distinct enough hop profile and trajectory to stand out, delicious. golden in color, real pale and pretty clear too, high head and furious carbonation from the tap, a lovely pint. the nose is killer, nelson hops for sure, melon and candied lemon, but also a little bit of a catty thing, canned pineapple, tangy green gooseberry, summery white wine, and all of this comes through in the flavor too because the grain is so light in this, a slightly crackery and earthy pils type foundation, but lighter than that, really delicate and minimal, im almost surprised how well this beer holds all its hop intensity! a faint berry thing as it warms, a little off dry in the center, but snappy going down, aided by the effervescence. citrus brightness, white grapey and floral elements, middle of the road bitterness but quickly resolved before the swallow, minerals and tidiness in the ferment. amazing overall brew, underrated here i think, also surprised its as strong as it is, drinks like a session type. what a beauty!

Light golden body, with an uneven soapy head. Smell is bright and tropical; mango, papaya, pineapple, strawberry cream, and a hint of pine. Taste follows, with bright citrusy flavors; pineapple, light pine, lemon, and a bit of malt make up the body, with notes of strawberry and floral hops. Carbonation is high, finish is dry.
It’s balanced very nicely, never pushing too hard on bitter or sweet, and the crisp feel would be hard to beat. Very good.

16oz can (dated 1/11/22) poured into 12oz tulip. Poured a lightly cloudy straw yellow color with a solid inch of white head that had very good retention and light lacing.
The aroma had some lightly sweet malts, gentle pine, and a light touch of citrus.
Pretty similar on the tongue, with the hops having a bit more presence and bite.
The body was light for the style, crisp, and had a semi-dry finish.
Drinkability was very good, an easily quaffable brew.
Overall, another fine beer from Pfriem. Certainly worth your time if you see it.

Clear amber brew with plenty of fine-grained foam in the Troubadour tulip. Quite aromatic with orange and citrus peel in the nose. Flavors of tangerine and pineapple. So smooth and just sweet enough, actually plenty sweet but it goes perfectly with the fruit. But a nice tang to balance.
I have been wishing for a revival of the Brut style, and here it is, done with perfect style by pFriem. Quite robustly flavored, and all fruit. Mango and just a touch of bitterness in the aftertaste. A delight, and another reason pFriem rules tham all. From the 500 ml bottle purchased at the Co-op market.

Hoppy aroma, quite floral. Light amber, thin head. Definitely a Brut style, being dry and light on the tongue while keeping a good taste and finish. Lots of fruit without being cloying. Super clean finish, a trademark of Pfriem as far as we are concerned. Highly refreshing on a hot summer afternoon on a shady porch. They released this beer far too early, IMHO.

Look: Straw yellow and clear with a HUGE billowing head that is finally receding, leaving behind great lacing
Aroma: Melon, pineapple, tropical fruit, some honey-like or honeysuckle flower sweetness, and strawberries. Not getting much malt in the nose
Taste: Floral sweetness up front, joined by the melon, pineapple, and tropical fruit with some sweetness on the finish. Slight bready note intermingles some but definitely in the background. Dry finish with decent sweetness – not sharp at all
Mouthfeel: Light and bubbly – almost flirts with a “session IPA”-type body but not near as weak/watery and enough sweetness to keep it from doing so
Overall: I’m actually digging this one more that I thought I would given the name and assumed style (Brut IPA) but leave it to these folks to make the rule-breaker for me. One of the main reasons I try everything that they make. A good to great representation of a style that I don’t really care for. If you do or want to be impressed with one, give this a go and you won’t be disappointed

500ml bottle served in a nonic glass. Bottle is dated 03 18 20.
L- Clear golden color. Large, pillowy bright white head with great retention and gobs of lacing. Moderate carbonation streams visible.
S- Doughy malt, tropical fruit (pineapple, mango and guava), melon and assorted berries, some other muddled tropical notes.
T- Similar to the aroma with some under ripe kiwi and gooseberry in there too. Interesting.
F- Medium/light bodied, crisp and tangy, crushable. Medium carbonation on the tongue.
O- pFriem has a knack for making unusual but wonderful IPAs and this is no exception. Really nice.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pour a light to medium golden amber with a fine, two finger white head with great retention and thick lacing. Aroma of pale malt, citrus and tropical fruit hops, lemon, melon, mango, grapefruit, mixed tropical fruit and a little dankness. Flavor is pale malt, mixed citrus, tropical fruit and piney hops, mixed tropical fruit with hints of pineapple, mango, some exotic fruit I've never had, orange and lemon. Lingering lightly resinous hop finish with citrus rind and some pine. Medium bodied with light creaminess and sharp carbonation. So far, I've not been a big fan of the brut IPA style, but I figured if anyone could change my mind, it would be Pfriem. Maybe this really isn't strictly a brut IPA, but it is low malt flavor, champagne like yeast, rather dry and well hopped. I really like this a lot. There is a very complex fruit component to the hops that has a lot of fleeting, hard to parse flavors that seem more exotic than tropical, but with notes of citrus and tropical fruit. The finish is semi-dry, but packed with interesting fruit esters and hints of pine and citrus rind. One of the more off-beat and flavorful IPAs I've had in a while. If this a brut, I'm now a convert.
