Welcome this rising star of the Pacific Northwest hops, Strata. This beautiful IPA balances complexity and refreshment with notes of guava and kiwifruit. There's a hit of dankness that elevates you like a hot air balloon over the sun-kissed Willamette Valley.

Pours a darker golden color with a large to medium head. Aroma is sweet citrus as is taste with a slight hop bitterness. Another good beer from pFriem. BOD 12-5-2024

A single hopped IPA. Start with a golden, slightly hazy pour. Top that with a billowy tawny head that presents a melon-like aroma with a hint of a leafy background. Taste is hoppy, but no dominating bitterness on the tongue and retains the melon taste -- a fine mix and hard to do but these guys can bring that off without a hitch. Malt base is present and softens the mouthfeel. ABV is 6.7%.

Alltogether a fine IPA and very enjoyable to drink.

16oz can left, (along with four other tallboys) in my friends A&A's fridge as a gift for doing a few days of house and pet sitting. The date stamp is smudged, but it definitely indicates that the can was filled sometime since the first of the year, so I'm not worried about age.

Great looking beer when poured into the glass! It's a crystal clear golden amber, with a creamy, beige colored head that leaves lots of lace on the sides of the glass. Excellent head retention. For a guy who came up as a beer geek during the heyday of the West Coast ipa, this looks like a textbook example of what an IPA should look like for the style.

The nose is of tropical fruit and grapefruit, in that order. It definitely has an aroma that is a little on the dank side, but is more restrained than some.

The taste of this beer is really well blended between the citrusy and tropical aspects noted in the aroma. I would describe the flavor, unlike the nose, as more juicy than dank. Things start out with a mild grapefruity flavor but very quickly there's an entrance of tropical fruit. The grapefruit flavor never goes away, though, and is present at the finish, which is mildly dry and bitter.

Medium bodied, with a mouthfeel that is relatively light and crisp for an IPA.

This would be a great beer on a warm afternoon in spring or summer, but it's also hitting the spot at lunch time in February with a couple inches of snow on the ground. It's been awhile since I've had a new beer from PFriem, and this tells me I need to make myself acquire their tall boy cans more often, as I'm usually buying six packs of their 12 oz pilsner cans, as that's such a fantastic fridge beer.

nice bright and fruity ipa, well refined for being a little hazy, dynamic for using just a single hop varietal, and very fresh on tap, delicious and properly done, a cool showcase of this now suddenly very popular hop. unfiltered looking but still light in the glass, yellow colored with an inch of airy white head, lots of big bubbles, and a nose of sliced mango, sweet orange, and light coconut, softly grassy and bitter too, but fruit first for sure. the flavor is juicy up front, only middle of the road bitterness later on, definite orange, cantaloupe, and clementine in the taste, a long flavor experience, but never overly intense for the style. the body is light, the grain character relatively minimal, although just right for this hop i think. slightly floral as it warms and off dry to me, but tidy on the ferment overall and clean on the swallow with just a little bitterness lingering, great carbonation, very drinkable overall, and excellent with spicy food, buffalo cauliflower wings for me. pfriem continues to deliver exceptional beers across just about the full style spectrum, one of the best in the northwest for my money!

Look: Light orange-yellow and clear with a pure white head that quickly forms a pillow, holds, and slowly settles to a lid, leaving nice-looking lacing behind
Aroma: Pink grapefruit, guava, lemon-lime, fruity and diesel-forward Cannabis, kiwis, orange zest, and bready malt
Taste: Grapefruit rind and flesh along with orange zest hits hard out of the gate and begins to develop depth as waves of lemon and lime crash in to compliment. Guava, kiwi, and diesel terpenes emerge and weave in and out of the citrus mix until it closes out with a bite
Mouthfeel: Full, lightly slick, clean, medium-high carbonation, and light but felt dryness on the finish
Overall: This is tasty stuff. I love pFriem and Strata hops so figured I’d like this and did as it’s a clean, well-made IPA that showcases the varietal nicely. Citrus reigns but there was both guava and kiwi in the mix, which I noticed prominently on the nose and don’t usually get from Strata, plus the terpene-heavy dank. Delicious and recommended

Clear golden amber with abundant foam in the chalice. Inviting aroma of grapefruit and green melon. Flavor starts with a little malt and cereal, then the hop flavors of berries and citrus.Interesting herbal notes but I would not call it dank, as some characterize the Strata hop. Light and sudsy in the mouth. As usual pFriem uses restraint instead of a heavy hand with their hops. Highly drinkable and pleasing tangy brew. Quite modest bitterness that is more like a Pale Ale, which adds to the pleasure. From the 16 oz can purchased at the supermarket. Dated 02/13/23.
