seems like the lager game is never ending here, they are always up to something, and go pretty deep on this one, so light and drinkable and clean, obvious attention to detail, right down to the water chemistry, this is so refined, wow. super blonde and with high shine, looks even lighter than their already light packed pils, airy white head casting lovely lace as it drinks, lots of bubbles, looks great. the nose and taste are minimal when its cold, but the hops come out as soon as it warms a little bit, as does the traditional lager yeast strain. some freshness from the hops emerges, lemon to me, but also a more familiar in the style noble type herbal property, wet minerality, soft grain character, its all here. the flavor follows, but to me pops a little more, there is a brightness about the whole thing, and i do find it hoppy. the grain seems almost reduced, this isnt watery but its absurdly light, in body and in flavor, so the hops, while still modest, jump out a little bit. simple crackery character, long lagered crispness, rushing carbonation that makes the whole thing sing. this is simple beer at its finest, and pfriem continues to blow me away pretty much every time i have a beer from them. loved this. not sure how many lagers you can brew and package and sell successfully before the general consumer is confused or overwhelmed, but if they canned this, i would buy it...
