16oz draft
Pours a finger of white head into a nonic. Retention is average. Lacing is solid. Body is dark orange, nearly copper. Looks good.
Smells lightly toasted, bread crust, modest bitterness. Aroma is good but very mild, definitely on the lighter side of the spectrum.
Flavor certainly showcases a lighter ESB. Some toasty notes, a touch of bread, but the malts are generally paler than other offerings. Hops are present. No esters.
While not a big hop flavor, there is a moderate bitterness here. Carbonation is medium-high and between that and the bitterness, there is a nice bite. Sweetness is low, bordering on dry. Medium bodied. Overall an accurate mouthfeel, drinks pretty balanced all things considered.
Drinkability is good.
Nothing really wrong here but I prefer the darker, maltier interpretation, with a decent ester profile.

On tap at Windsor Homebrew in Costa Mesa, CA.
It’s ok. As things are. But it’s like your eyes when Bambi’s mom dies - it’s a bit watery. Like, nowhere near is it a Tyson uppercut. I’m thinking more-so a De La Hoya jab.
A loss is a loss, my children.
