Clear, dark amber pour; deep amber red hue in the glass; thick carbonation; thin head, fizzy yet lasting. Wonderful malt-forward nose; rich, sweet caramel and toffee. Bold flavors; herbal caramel notes with dark, dried fruits; anise and cinnamon; brown sugar; figs; muted, earthy esters. Heavy, sticky mouthfeel; viscous; sublime underlying boozy warmth.
This beer comes at you strong with bold, lasting flavors and scent. The amaro barrel aging defines the beer's inherent character. A fine, distinctive, barrel-aged barleywine.
ABV: 12%; pouring temperature: 49.4 °F; bottling info: 2025; barrel aged 3 months; bottled 3 25 25

From the pFriem club exclusive collection, this barleywine had great mouthfeel for a barleywine but thin for a barrel aged beer. The amaro was well incorporated into the beer such that you didn't notice it as a separate note. Overall, it was deceptively smooth and delicious. A wonderful sipping beer that felt like decadence itself.
