You’ll think you’ve landed in the tropics when you enjoy a pFriem Mosaic Pale. This strong ale glows with an amber hue. Wafts of mango and citrus tease the senses just long enough before its assertive taste takes over with hits of mango, pine and a slight tinge of blueberry. Make no mistake; this ale has a bright and tasty future.

This was the first beer in our single hop pale series. Our single hop pale series focuses on new hop varieties and show casing them in a American strong pale ale. The result of our experimental series accentuates and showcases the individual character of each hop. Mosaic is a new hop out of Washington’s Yakima Valley and is the first daughter of Simcoe. 2012 was the first harvest that Mosaic was commercially available.

Big berry-like hop aroma and flavor as expected from Mosaic. Nice balance with light bitterness. Fairly light bodied with a nicely balanced finish. Sessionable!

16oz canned 2-14-25, opened 4-13-25.
2 finger off white pillowy head with excellent retention.
Bright, golden body - not hazy but not fully clear. Thick, patchy lacing.
Lots of hop fruit in the aroma, berries, citrus, and sweaty but in the best way.
Citrus and berries, some grassiness, some doughy malt and pine in the finish. Very tasty.
Light to medium body, bright entry, subtle prickliness on the tongue. Medium length, flavorful finish.
Outstanding.

Draft at the Handlebar. Clear golden pour, small foamy white head. Light citrusy aroma, biscuit malts. Taste is fruity, grapefruit, lemon notes, and lush bready malts. Not overly hoppy, smooth.

Look: Almost clear burnt orange with a frothy pure white head that builds up and holds as a pillow, slowly settling to reveal great lacing clung to the glass
Aroma: Mango, mandarins, passionfruit, lime, blueberries, sugar-dusted strawberries, papaya, wafts of Cannabis, and sweet bready malt
Taste: The initial hit up front is a pure tropical fruit salad and quickly filtering in to join are limes, oranges, and berry notes. The bready malt is ever-present and provides a nice balance throughout and closes with a little dank and more tropical fruit
Mouthfeel: Full, pretty clean, medium-high carbonation, and a lightly smooth and soft finish
Overall: This is tasty stuff. Not only is this beer a great showcase of the multi-dimensional Mosaic hop but it is a really good and well-made Pale Ale as well. I love what these folks do and try and look forward to this one each and every year. Recommended.

Golden amber body; lots of lively carbonation; thick, sculpted head, white and creamy in texture. Nice mild and somewhat muted aroma; earthy fruitiness; a touch of citrus. Outstanding bready malt base infused with a moderate dose of hop bitterness; a bit of biscuit, a touch of wheat; pine-like hop note, too. Medium body; crisp and prickly on the palate; some residual sugar stickiness; a bit of alcohol dryness; cross between sweet and dry on the palate.
This beer balances the malt base and hop presence in a very nice manner. I love the prominent malt base character and certainly won't complain about the moderate hop bitterness. The smell, perhaps, was a bit on the quiet side, but everything else was top notch.

APA #300 and it was a beauty! Dark golden clear pour with plump white head, left plenty of lacing. Huge mango and lemon nose with pineapple, light guava, earthy and grassy hops with hints of lemongrass. Taste is sweeter than the nose let on: lemon water-ice with huge mango, pineapple, orange cream, before lemon pith, grassy and earthy hops finish in an elevating way. Feel is bright, light, malty is very present but hops have character, not very pale though. Still, a well balanced and flavorful beer

Pours a golden yellow with a fluffy white head. Dank mosaic smell. Medium carbonation with a piney tingle. Crisp and clean with a slight hop burn. A great example of the style.

Yet another beer from the Firestone Walker Festival Pre Party 2017.
Pours the most common beer color of golden yellow, bountiful clarity. 2/3" white head. Aroma goes Mosaic, but I dunno, not hard, these aren't super danky Mosaics, but they are nice, still pushing that lush tropical fruit and weed vibe, but in a more restrained way than the elite tier Mosaic dry hoppers will drop.
Taste revealed way more grain presence than I was expecting, like full on waves like in the song, you know, the one that did the thing. Enough Biden in this review. Stood out like it was top end pilsner malt. Keeps the orange and mango notes pushing. Carbonation appropriate. Light bodied, moderate 55ibu levels of bitterness.
I suspect the difficulty here is the 500ml format size for a pale ale, with everyone going full on 473ml (pints), this seems similar to the price per ounce difficulties the bomber format found. But then again, Russian River pulls off the 500ml size, but I dunno if their existence can be the norm expectation for another brewery. We'll see how this goes in the future.
