It's the Barley Rye! A blend of Pale, Munich, Crystal 80, Victory and Rye Malt. This is real fun at 8.2%. It's the Roggen on steroids!

Served in a snifter, the beer is dark brown in color, with a thin, tan head. Sniff... what the hell is that -- licorice? The first sip reveals that, yes indeed! The dominant flavor of this beer is indeed, black licorice! I'm not sure where this flavor is coming from, but the malty body is fairly sweet itself, and there just don't seem to be enough hops to balance. The licorice flavor is just overpowering. But, hey, I'm not really a fan of black licorice, so if that's your thing, then this is your beer!
