Good hoppy bitter, nice dry citrus bitterness and sessionable/lunchtime ABV. Commercial notes: Challenger and Golding hops act in perfect harmony with Suffolk malt. Dark Golden with a small nice soapy head, significant lacing, and English hop aroma.Not a strong, more like a bitter.

Reddish amber, almost cherry. Beautiful color. Decent head.
At the smell, malt, a good hazelnut, and strong dried fruit. The hop is present, but not overwhelming.
The taste is definitely pleasant too, with a fully maltiness, dark malts notes, and again dried fruit. Earthy.
And even quite bitter in the aftertaste, with liquorice and bitter roots notes.
Interesting, and drinkable.

Appearance --> Pours a very nice dark-amber colour. The head is foamy and has moderate retention.

Smell --> Has a slightly acidic nose with notes of apples and roasted malts.

Taste --> Has a pleasant acidity. There is a subtle hint of apple along with toasty malts and a slight peatyness. Throughout is a moderate hoppy bitterness that lingers into the finish.

Mouthfeel --> Medium to light body with a slight syrupyness around the edge.

Drinkability --> This is a decent English Strong Ale, however I think it could be better balanced. I'd drink this again; but it wouldn't be my first choice for an English Strong Ale.

Bottle sample from LCBO- Pours deep mahogony/coper, with heaviy cream lace, and thick two finger froth. Aromas are heavily caramalized malts, bready, molasses with a touch of smoke. FLavours are good if not one dimentional. Sweet caramel malts, with burnt sugars and a smidgen of hops. Finishes creamy, fairly smooth, with sweet lingering finish. A decent strong ale.

Bottle: Poured a medium amber color ale with a medium head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of floral English hops (Golding) is quite interesting with some good malt backbone. Taste is a nice mix between some dry malt and some floral hops, which provide a refreshing bitter, finish. Body is a bit light and less filtration would have provided better enjoyment of my part. This beer was one of the better offering that I had a chance to drink from this brewery.

pours a nice copper colour with a thin off-white head. the scant head drops quickly to a small ring around the glass.

aroma is nice. bready malt. a little hops. noticeable alcohol presence.

taste is ok. a little bready malt. moderate bitterness. just feels a little flat. alcohol content is lower than usual for the style.

mouthfeel is ok. low carbonation, decent body.

drinkability is ok. a decent beer, just nothing that special.

Clear reddish amber with just a few giant bubbles for a head. Sweet caramel aroma with mild herbal hops. Soft, yet solid, bitterness offsets the malt sweetness. Caramel and some medicinal hop flavour. Mineral character becomes pronounced towards the end, but stops short of being salty. Medium bodied with lightish carbonation. Palate coating and just off-dry. Not bad, but not overly exciting for me.

Appearance
Clear light mahogany hued ale. Poured with a nice creamy off white two finger head. Nice medium lacings and finely carbonated.

Aroma
Rich malt nose of nuts and biscuit. Fruity esters, hints of golden raisin. Earthy and grassy hops round out this ale.

Taste
This is a tasty english ale and fits my tastes very nicely. Richly malted with mostly nutty but also some biscuit. Does have a mild yet pronounced fruity and vineous character reminding me of golden raisins. Finish with leafy, earthy hops, with a faint hint of peppery spice. Like trail mix in a glass in a yummy way.

Mouthfeel
Nicely balanced light-medium bodied ale with the rich malts, earthy and mildly spicey hops. Has an almost creamy mouthfeel, and the mild carbonation gives a pleasant fuzzy feel. Almost dry, certainly not sweet, which adds to the enjoyment of this brew.

Drinkability
I could drink ales like this all night long. Would also be a great ale to introduce a craft beer novice to something with a little more substance and darker malts. A nice beer for a fall night. Ill drink this one again.

Handsome copper red beer. Moderate off-white head that settles to spotty film but consistenly gives up lace.

Hoppy, slightly spicy nose. Bitter hops up front on a nice malt backbone. Pleasant lingering bitterness. No real sharp edges to this one, just a nicely put together beer, easy to drink.

A: Dark amber/caramel; light tan head, not much retention but it leaves some nice lace.

S: Earthy hops, some minerals, a little bread & caramel in the background.

T: Pleasant bitter balance, slight acidity; Bready, some orange-citrus, slight spice and a little earthiness from the hops,

M: Moderate body & carbonation, slight acidity.

D: Good.

500ml "medicine bottle" :

Poured a delighfully bbrilliant orange-amber ale with a sticky-rocky cap into my mug.

Aromas are subtle: light grassy tones, grain husk and sweetness.

Decent malt spine, medium bodied, silken mouth feel and a strange bitter-sweet characater.

Up front a good dose of thick malts then chaos happens.... spears of hop bitterness slice through the malts then retreat and then re-attack... and so on and so on until the finish where we really don’t know yet if this has decided to be a bitter or a malty ale...cetainly not a "strong ale"...this one is an enigma????

Saw this one at the LCBO and seeing as I've never had it I figured it would be worth a try, considering I rather enjoyed their English Ale (despite it's smell and appearance).

This poured from the slightly smoked medicine bottle a deep mahogany with a slight head that formed very subtlely on the top. Smell is a little spicy, English hops and some malt in there. In the flavor department however this one is a winner. Smooth and sweet caramel like malts with a subtle and refreshing bitterness in the finish. Relatively smooth considering the bitterness, and very easy to drink down.

I sincerely hope the LCBO does not drop this one as this has become among one of my favorite english ales so far.

The back label says this is St Peters' first beer. Its surprising that the first 3 BAs to review it are from Onterrible. The front label looks like all the others and is pink.

It pours an interesting amber cherry color. The head is thin and shortlived. A cap of dense lace sticks around for a while and leaves sufficient lace behind. The aroma is malty and toasty with some caramel cake, Goldings spice and green apples. The taste is grainy and malty. I taste christmas cake big time and candy apples, toffee, roasted malt and fresh earth. The finish is slightly bitter with a hearty malt sweetness and even some smokeyness. The mouthfeel is thick and lightly carbonated. This is thicker than I expected. The aftertaste is dry and bitter.

A great, full flavored brew from St Peters, one of the better ones Ive tried, but no Summer Ale (that one was awesome). Try this if you like the brewery, youll probably love it.

Pours a slightly hazy amber with a thin quickly dissolving head. Aroma of bread and fruit with a touch of burnt toast and toffee. Taste was a bit of sourness at the start with some caramel and toffee creeping in in the middle and some dry earth hops in the finish. Mouthfeel was medium with a bit of crispness. This is a good beer, not wonderful, but definitely tasty and I've always had a soft spot for this brewery.

A - Clear, ruby red. With a bit of a rocky head. Bubbles are loose and fall quickly to a covering sheet.

S - Extremely nutty with roasted malt, spiciness and some fruit. A tinge of metallic nose and booziness as well.

T - Slightly tart up front with a heavy malty flavour. Bitterness from roasted malt as well as hops. Hops are slightly citrusy with some lemon. Alcohol is all but invisible. Nutty, toasted flavours come out strong as well.

M - Surprising big and heavy for a 5.1% brew. Fills the mouth nicely and sticks around for a while.

D - A bit on the heavy side. A cold weather, hearty drink. Good for late fall or winter, and with a meal of something stewed? Yum.
