English Pale malts coupled with Challenger and Golding hops provide the bitterness and aroma. The result is a highly distinctive light, golden ale, with caramel aromas, a pleasing toffee apple flavour and a late bitterness.

Clear amber color with minimal white head. Floral and bread aroma. Earthy, caramel taste with good bitterness. Long bitterness in the finish. Not a very common one.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Very moderate aroma, weak notes of hops and grain, hints of toffee and biscuits. The flavour has decent hops on a slightly sweet base of moderate malts, with a hint of caramel. Distinct hoppy bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. Not a bad beer, but far from the best offering from St. Peter’s.

L- Lovely pale chestnut brown, clear, pours with thin and fine 1mm head that clears to lacing.
S- Toasty malty grains, smells like a trad bitter.
T- Pretty toasty, roasted grains, into dry hopping at the finish. This looks and tastes like a solid bitter to me; I'm unsure how 'Golden ale' supposedly varies from that.
F- Refreshing, would be ideal for a more trad beer, with some punch to it, on a hot summers day.
O- Very accomplished, zero out of place or balance. I'd happily drink this again.
Bought from Waitrose, London SW1 for £1.85/500ml. BB: 29/05/20

500ml bottle. Clear, red/amber colour with a few streams of carbonation rising to a thin, creamy head and much lacing. Light aroma of sweet malt & fudge. Classic English ale flavours of toffee, caramel & orchard fruit. Solid level of bitterness compliments the smooth, slightly chewy body. Lacks the honey flavour that I typically associate with golden ales but it’s very refreshing on a blistering hot afternoon. A good example of a traditional English pale ale.
