Clear amber color with a slight veil and low activity. Gets cloudy as more yeast is poured. Creamy light beige 2-3 finger head, lasting around 10 minutes, with decent legs and swirl reaction. Flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg, mint, coriander, roasted grains, toffee, walnuts, Belgian yeast, and herbal hops. Soft creamy medium to full body with a good crisp. Medium strength finish, typical red ale spices with a mild peppery feel and a light Rauchbier effect. Good balance, freshness, and intensity. Overall very good quality craft.

Bottle: Poured an amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of grainy caramel malt with some residual sugar notes and a weir spicy yeast makes for a strange aroma. Taste is also a mix of dry grainy malt notes with light residual sugar notes with some spicy yeast notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Big fan of this brewery but this beer is probably their least appealing.

Acidulated and spiced (nutmeg, coriander, sage). Hint of hops but all these spices are (too)dominant. Quite special. Thumbs up for the effort.

A:
Pours a bright, cloudy orange that is between a pumpkin and a flat amber. Has a decent-sized solid two fingers of head that sinks to a half-finger and eventual film that sticks around. Good retention; isolated tiny spots of lacing. (3.5)

S:
Sweet, bready malt. Spices, hot boozy malt, lacquer, orange zest, grass, medicinal herbs. (3)

T:
Flat, dry, vaguely bitter. Even herbal bitter dry-ness, some cirus peel maybe, but mainly astringent tea leaves, sage, thyme, anise, etc. (3.25)

M:
Dry, thinnish, almost coating, medium body, moderate carbonation, nice creamy head. Lasting bitter dryness in throat, otherwise a quick finish. (3)

O:
Another interesting Kruhnen beer.
I keep trying these guys' stuff, so it is at least interesting enough to keep me coming back; but don't be fooled, it is certainly some unique beer. I only go on and on this point because it is close enough to a 'style' that you expect it, but different enough that it kind of throws you for a loop.
That said, it looks nice, smells surprisingly boozy and abrasive, tastes okay (but quite herbal), drinks good enough for gov't work, and all-in-all is okay enough for a similar job. hahaha
Wouldn't turn down if offered; if you're want something different it's good, otherwise meh... (3.25)
