This was poured into a tulip and served at Blackback Pub, Waterbury, VT. The appearance was a dark brown color with a bar pour’s kind of slim white head that dissipated immediately. Barely any lacing. The smell starts off with rich caramel, toffee, coffee, chocolate and nuttiness blending together and coming through in a wonderful combination. Light cake as it continues to warm. Slightly bready. The taste was basically the same as the smell. More cake/breadiness coming through and giving off a nice stellar sweet smooth transition from aftertaste to the finish, wow, really nice. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body. Alcohol feels pretty well hidden and allows the cake/breadiness to hit as the weight on the feel. It had a smooth almost creaminess going on as well. Overall, I’d say this was a pretty well done doppelbock that I’d have again.
