Our take on the maltforward fest biers of Bavaria. Extensive malt aroma and taste trials over the last two years led us in crafting this recipe, a subtly-hopped amber lager that walks the line between dry and full-bodied, not too sweet but definitely not lacking in malty goodness. Lagered on our in-house toasted oak to round out this brew’s flavor profile.

Had it at Base Camp in Portland.
Appearance: Poured with very little to no head. I'd call the color a burnt orange. Was a little hazy in the glass.
Nose: Hoppy aroma, middling as in not subtle nor too obvious.
Taste or mouthfeel: A very well balanced, lovely Oktoberfest. Eminently drinkable, unobtrusive and wonderful. What stands out is the dry hopped nature that's not found in most beers of this style but I found it was a good use of the fantastic Northwest hops.

A. Not as amber as expected but more orange in color dense but not cloudy. Thick natural head, cream in color and texture. Long lasting, large bubbles in head thats frothy like a mocha.
S. Opens sweet and malty sharp and tart. Sharp like a pilsner, malty like an amber/English beer. The blend of sweet/sharp malt/hops is very pleasant giving way to strong lager or pilsner type yeast. maybe a touch of fruit as it warms.
T. Slight rich malty upfront but enjoyably balanced middle, like a west coast pale ale. The finish is dry and sharp/bitter like a great pilsner. Co2 and light alc taste make a crisp drinkable finish as the slight bready flavor gives way. Bitter aftertaste of a pilsner keeps me wanting more!
M. Med light bodied. Starts Med with the bready notes but finishes dry and crisp from Co2 and sharp hops. Goes down smooth with a little puckering on the after taste in the back of the mouth.
O. Really a fine beer! One might think of a laggered Fat Tire with pilsner yeast and hops. A very drinkable spring beer. If you like sharp bitter pilsner styles don't let the color fool you, grab one and try it. Not a bad thing to say about this beer except that I only had one...

Proper pint at Growl Movements new store in S.Salem $5 Clear attractive copper coloured ale with a small cream coloured head..that disapears within minutes, leaves conspicuous lace. Good malty ,bready, biscuity aroma getting a little wood/vanilla. Quite balanced taste to it..mostly the biscuity malts with some wood notes and a nice grassy hop. Good medium mouthfeel ..good carbonation. Easy drinker..kind of enjoyed it.

I love Base Camp's aluminum bottles. There aren't any other breweries around here that ship beer in these containers.
Pours a very nice copper hue with a decent head. It's a northwest take on the traditional marzen/oktoberfest style.
Sweet with nary a kiss of hops on the nose. Better than I expected based on the hop selection atypical of northwestern beers.
Tastes just like a marzen should. Lots of sweet malt. The only thing that's different is a stronger hop imprint.
Mouthfeel confirms this. It seems to hit all the other sweet spots style-wise.
Definitely worth a try even for the novelty of the bottle.
