Sampled on tap at the brewpub.
This "multi-grain beer" is brewed with "Gerste, Weizen, Roggen, und Dinkel" which means Barley, Wheat, Rye, and Spelt. So, most accurately, this is not a "rye beer", but that category at least distinguishes it from other wheat beers (which it could also be classified as). The beer is unfiltered.
This beer poured a hazy, amber brown color (light chestnut) with creamy, off-white foam that settled but which coated the glass and left some lace. The smell was very interesting: somewhat fruity with some sweetness (a hint of banana, perhaps from the wheat). A touch of alcohol was also present in the aroma. The taste was fruity with banana and caramel and yeast but with other grain notes and some hops, floral and bitter, in the finish. The mouthfeel was initially sharp on the tongue but giving way to smoothness. The body was medium with good carbonation. The lightly fruity flavor lingered. This was an interesting and good beer and was quite drinkable.
