Pours a citrus yellow pretty clear body with a few big white bubbles and about 40% thin coverage of small bubbles.
Very little aroma you have to stick nose right in to pick up a slight whiff of sweet cider
A bitter edge cuts straight into your mouth from the second it hits the mouth some stewed hops in their and peppery notes but it lacks a decent aftertaste and disperses on the tongue like a under fermented cider
great carbonation and easy drinking mouthfeel would makes a beer that just slightly holds itself above average and hold at very least refresh on a hot day.

500 mL clear bottle poured into a glass.
A: very clear, pale blonde beer; a bit of foamy head with a moderate amount of lacing.
S: rich malty scent.
T: much more like a blonde ale as opposed to a traditional English bitter ale. I think some of the negative reviews might actually have more to do with a mis-appropriation of beer style than actual taste, IMO. I personally enjoyed this mild, refreshing ale quite a lot!
M: very pleasant on the tongue; quite a lot of nice carbonation but not too much.
O: I wish I could get this more readily in my area, as I enjoyed it quite a lot.

Brown 500ml bottle, best before end of May 2010, drank mid Dec 2009. Poured into my 'Old Speckled Hen' pint vase shaped glass.
Made with 'lager malt' and asked to be served cool, it was.
Looks every inch a lager more than a UK bitter. Deep pure white head (which produced some impressive lacing) sat on top of an almost bright golden body. Plenty of carbonisation, huge amounts of bubbles rising through the beer from start to finish.
Slight yeast aroma in the air, hay and grass too, not very British.
The taste is a mix between a lager and a UK bitter, not too sure I like it. Refreshing it is, but the dryness in the aftertaste takes away the enjoyment for me. A true hybrid, Fuggles hops are used, couldn't detect them apart from the aforementioned dryness.
The beer lacks body in a big way, easy to drink but needs more substance.
Didn't float my boat, but it is a pleasant enough drink I suppose. Perhaps I should have tried it in warmer weather, it is -1 outside at the moment and getting colder.

Tasted by a hand-pulled half-pint at the Capitol, a JDW pub in Forest Hill, SE London.
A: pours a bright, pale straw hue, with a foamy white beer head lingering well on top of very low carbonation.
S: sour prune-ish and sharply lemony (almost like a freshly-made lemonade!!) upfront, also faintly vinegary (not too sure about the condition of this cask ), while savoury-sweet wheatiness and a mildly straw-ish hint both hide at the corner. Unbalanced and not quite fresh overall.
T: a very weird lemony taste prevails from the outset, along with a feather-light, almost macro-lager like, maltiness; as it goes, more lemonade-ish taste, somehow more pleasant, comes forward and gets underlined by a belated, welcoming sign of grassy and slightly peppery hops with a lemon-peel-like zesty-bitter kickback. Malts last pretty well in the very end to echo the equally lingering dry-ish palate.
M&D: feather-light-bodied, but fizziness is about right and hence not quite like its off-ish. Overall, if theres nothing wrong with the cellarmanship in keeping this cask (which could well happen to the JDW chain that is prone to criticism of inconsistency), then I have to say this really is a strange brew with a sour-citric touch too much. Having said that, the dry-ish hoppiness does not go unnoticed, even adding some extra points to the overall drinkability.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 4.3%. Pale golden colour (probably the palest British ale Ive ever seen), slightly hazy. Moderate white head. Moderate fruity aroma. Flavour has some some citrussy notes and fairly decent hops, light bodied, dry bitter finish. In a blind test I might have guessed that this was a kölsch, or even a well-hopped pils. The lager malt used may explain that. An okay beer for a hot summers day, but I wouldnt mind having some noticeable malts around, to balance the Fuggles hops.

thoroughly enjoyed otter bright for the first time the other night. it was 35 degrees celcius outside, even hotter in, and i was lookin for crisp, clean yet tasty lagers that i didnt have to get to just above freezing point to really appreciate. sitting out in the garden late evening with one of these made my night and almost helped me get over finding out of the destruction of an old favorite, moretti la rossa, during the course of the same evening.
made with lager malts, pours a clear light yellow color with an almost whipped looking head which thins down appropriately not too far into the pint. strongest positive on this beer is the skilled and classy use of fuggles hops. really jumps out at ya straight up your nostrils, with a floral, citrus fruit aroma that also has a light hint of spice. marvellous balance between malts and hops. the flavor fruity, with gentle malt focus and a pinch of herbs, which slides into a wonderfully tangy, zesty bitter finish that fizzes on the tongue and is full of character. fairly dry, but the wonderful understated nature of the beer flavor overcome any potential for leaving nasty tastes in the mouth. minimal carbonation, this beer lets the hops come to the forefront.
the english know how to brew understated beers better than anyone. while i find others tend to like the in your face, knock me down complexities and flavors of europe and the u.s, no one makes more enjoyable session beers than the poms. some may say they in it for a good time not a long time, the english achieve both. you can have pint after pint of this and its tasting just as good at the last mouth as it did the first and still find youself in the upright position.
otter bright is right up there with master brew, another fav of mine, for a great drinking lager thats full of flavor, doesnt skimp on the hops, and wont sit you on your ass too quickly. well worth a try, epecially if its searing hot weather.

A bit below average. Says its made with lager malt, so that explains the really laagery yellow colour. Malts are sweet and light, some citrus in the finish, slightly herbal finish (due to the hops i guess). thirst quenching, but pretty simple, not too bad, just pretty boring.
