"International IPA" brewed for GABS festival in Melbourne, May 2014. Tried there on tap.
Pours a champagne golden colour, clear with large whispy head, cream-coloured. Doesn't retain. Looks quite pale and a bit listless, but OK.
Smells fruity and light. Corella pear is distinct with some mild notes of passionfruit and pineapple late. Not much else; pretty basic.
Taste is similar, again not a lot of malt backing to drive it forward but a light, tangy, fruity mid-to-late with pear, passionfruit and a very slight bitter finish. Very subtle, but in all other respects just a bit bland.
Body is thin, fairly unimpressive.
On the description they call this a "Session IPA", and as controversial as that term is I think even "Pale Ale" would be quite generous to this unimpressive affair.
