I recently had Grand Allowance a Chardonnay barrel aged wheat wine from Lakewood, ABV 12.80%, IBU 62. It is the ninth release in Lakewood's "Legendary Series". I thought it was a great beer and I really enjoyed it.
Look: It is cloudy reddish brown with a thick fluffy and creamy beige head. The head stays a long time and leaves nice lacing.
Aroma: A moderate aroma of citrus and white wine
Taste: It's bready, sweet, slightly tart, fruity, figs, grapes, white wine, and oak. It’s a bit boozy but not in a bad way in my opinion.
Feel: It is full bodied and creamy.

I had the #9 wheat wine version brewed for 2020, also aged in chardonnay barrels. Awesome as a barley wine. Has almost the same taste profile as Firestone Walker's California Quad. Very nice sweet caramel taste backed up by some medium-strong malt taste and heavier mouthfeel.

Not really what I was expecting in Wheat Wire but a great beer overall. More caramel than others, thicker and smooth. Reminds me more of a Barley wine but not too boozy.

Maybe it's an acquired taste
