L- 60% transparent solid 1F white head with no lace but some staying power.

N-Banana & produce dept yeast notes and a whiff of malt

T-Lightly tannic and metallic tang bitterness hits pretty hard. Slight malt sweetness with little grain body.

M- Dry metal tormenting my tongue. Medium mouthfeel and carbonation.

O- Wow, just way too much metallic tang. Waiting for the zing as if putting your tongue on both terminals of a 9 volt battery. Too much hop bitterness also does not help.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden yellow color with a small, white head of bubbly foam. It left minimal lacing. It smelled of grassy, hay, grains and toasted caramel. Sweet caramel and toffee with spicy, earthy bitterness. Crisp, sharp and smooth.

even though this has gotten better over time, it should still be better than it is. what appears to be an obvious attempt at something at least a little trendy and mass appeal, as there is nothing german about it and it seems a far deviation from the rest of their portfolio, but i get the desire to have something like this in the lineup, it just isnt that good right now and needs some cleaning up. its not all the way clear, maltier and darker in color than i like in the style, and with way too much hop bitterness to finish rightly, it trumps any flavor or crispness from the lager yeast that should define the style, this isnt refreshing, its piney and bitter and has crystal or vienna type malt in it for some reason. id like it to drop some of the grain out, move some of the kettle hops to the fermenter, and just not try so hard in general. i like the easy going professional nature of all the prost beers, and this seems almost homebrewy in comparison (i use that term in the negative context here). it doesnt fit in, and worse, i dont think it accomplishes its original purpose. i hope its not done being developed...
